The course will highlight the macro and microeconomic peculiarities of the labor market. It will analyze the determinants of the level of employment and its composition, the relationship between unemployment and the rate of inflation, the determinants of the wage rate and wage differentials, the relationship between wages and labour productivity. As regards the recent evolutionary phenomena of the labour market, the course aims to analyze their quantitative and qualitative aspects and the implications for economic policy. In particular, it will focus on the evolution of the employment structure and labour underemployment, on full employment policies, on welfare systems, and on income support measures.
