21210004 - ECONOMIA DELLE IMPRESE E DEI SETTORI PRODUTTIVI

The course aims to introduce students to the main analytical tools for understanding how businesses operate, with particular reference to the theoretical models of neo-institutional business theory and the interpretation of empirical data.
Within this general framework, the study of Italian industry constitutes a specific and applied focus, through which students will be able to put into practice the theoretical categories and analytical tools covered in the general part of the course. Attention will be focused on the structure of the Italian production system, its transformations over time and its peculiarities compared to other international contexts.
In particular, the following topics will be explored in depth:

the effects of recent economic crises on the business system;
the impact of globalisation and international integration of value chains;
the role of technological change and digital transition;
productivity dynamics.

The overall objective is to provide an integrated understanding of business economics and, at the same time, offer an empirically based perspective on the specificities and challenges of Italian industry.
