Learning Outcomes

Assess the ex-post impact of public policies – Understand whether policies work, for whom, and under what conditions by applying counterfactual methods (matching, difference-in-differences, regression discontinuity, synthetic control) and introductory machine learning techniques to real datasets using R Studio, with special attention to EU policies and environmental policies.
Construct and simulate CGE models for policy analysis – Build a baseline scenario that reflects the current economic situation, simulate different policy scenarios (such as long-term US–EU tariff negotiations or climate-related trade measures), and analyze the potential economic effects, benefits, and challenges of these scenarios using the GTAP model.
Produce and present policy impact assessment reports – Synthesize results from quantitative analysis, interpret them in the context of evidence-based policymaking, and present findings clearly to policymakers, highlighting benefits, drawbacks, and implications of EU and international policy scenarios.
