Mercoledì 29 aprile alle ore 14:00, nell'ambito dei Junior Seminars dei dottorandi di Matematica, Ilaria Cruciani terrà il seminario dal titolo "Applications of G-Functions to the Theory of Unlikely Intersections".
Abstract: G-functions were introduced by Siegel in 1929 in his seminal work on Diophantine approximation, and since then they have played a central role in number theory. Roughly speaking, G-functions are power series with rational coefficients, or more generally with coefficients in a number field, satisfying certain arithmetic and analytic conditions. In this talk, I will discuss applications of G-functions to the theory of Unlikely Intersections for algebraic tori and for powers of an elliptic scheme. In this context, following the method of Yves André, G-functions provide a powerful tool to obtain effective and sometimes explicit height bounds in special cases. I will outline the main ideas of the method and the type of estimates it yields.
Il seminario organizzato dai dottorandi di Matematica e si svolgerà in presenza presso il Dipartimento di Matematica e Fisica, via della Vasca Navale 84, aula B.
